The Logitech Z407 Speaker Review

Overall, I've been thoroughly impressed with the audio quality of this speaker system, especially the satisfying thump from the subwoofer. Considering its performance and affordability, I consider it a great value purchase.

So, I found the speakers in my monitor to not be adequate at all. I was in the market for something that wasn’t too out of the pricing realm I was in, which was budget minded. I did a couple hours of research and landed on the Logitech Z407 Speakers.

Unpacking them, it’s easy to see how well built this set is. Both speakers, the sub-woofer all felt nice and solid.

Connecting them to my Mac Studio was a breeze. I originally opted to go for the USB connection (didn’t entertain the Bluetooth abilities that the speakers do offer) and that sounded fine. For curiosity’s sake, I tried the 3.5mm connection to the computer and it sounded better and I stuck with that connection type.

The little puck that comes with the speaker setup is nice, it has a delay in it. It’s powered by a couple of included AAA batteries. I had to use it to select the input source on the speaker setup. Also, needed it for the bass level that I wanted output. The puck has great features, one tap to play/pause. Double tap to skip to the next track. Triple tap to replay the current track. And of course, you could adjust the volume with the dial like behavior of the puck.

I found the delay in the puck waking up and doing any of the above a little frustrating and was just as happy to utilize the Stream Deck Mini. I wish the puck had been wired to avoid the delay, but it is what it is.

The satellite speakers had the nice option of positioning them horizontally or vertically.

Overall, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the audio quality of this speaker system, especially the satisfying thump from the subwoofer. Considering its performance and affordability, I consider it a great value purchase.
