Windows 11 Insider Preview: April 10 Builds Bring FAT32 2TB Limit, Touchpad Controls, and Insider Program Overhaul

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview builds across multiple channels today, April 10, 2026. All channels share a notable storage improvement, while the Canary channel gets a useful touchpad customization. Microsoft is also announcing a significant overhaul to the Insider Program itself.

What’s New Across All Channels

Both the Beta and Dev channels receive two shared improvements today. First, Microsoft is increasing the size limit for formatting FAT32 volumes via the command line from 32GB to 2TB — a long-overdue change that brings Windows in line with modern storage needs. Second, performance when navigating to storage details in Settings > System > Storage > Advanced Storage Settings > Disks & Volumes has been improved.

Beta Channel: Build 26220.8165

The Beta Channel receives build 26220.8165 (KB 5083635) today. In addition to the shared storage changes, Microsoft is rolling out enhancements to the Windows Security app’s Secure Boot experience. The updated interface shows green, yellow, and red icon badges alongside new text reflecting your device’s Secure Boot state and certificate status — a useful addition as Microsoft updates Secure Boot certificates on consumer devices.

The new Feedback Hub is also now available as an app update for Beta Insiders today, bringing a refreshed experience with simpler navigation, a new compliment feedback type, and a focused in-the-moment feedback surface.

Dev Channel: Build 26300.8170

The Dev Channel receives build 26300.8170 (KB 5083632), with the same FAT32 and storage improvements. The update also fixes an issue that caused Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage to show unrealistically large values in recent builds.

Canary Channel: Builds 28020.1812 and 29565.1000

The Canary Channel gets two builds today. Build 28020.1812 adds a new touchpad setting under Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad that lets users choose the size of the right-click zone — the portion of the touchpad where a single-finger press registers as a right-click. Users can choose between default, small, medium, and large. Build 29565.1000 is a platform change build with refinements to the drag tray, using a smaller peek view to reduce accidental invocations.

Windows Insider Program Overhaul

Alongside today’s builds, Microsoft is announcing a significant restructuring of the Windows Insider Program. The company is ending its Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) system for Beta channel participants — meaning Insiders will no longer be subjected to A/B testing where some users get new features and others don’t. Going forward, users will be able to manually toggle feature flags directly in Settings, getting access to new features as soon as they are documented in changelogs.

How to Get the Updates

Insiders can download today’s builds by going to Settings > Windows Update on an enrolled device. To get features as soon as they roll out, enable the toggle for the latest updates in Windows Update settings.
