Dopamine 2.5 Beta 3 is out today, and it’s a meaningful step forward for the jailbreak. Developer opa334 has added support for iOS 17.0 through 18.7.1 on arm64 devices, marking the first time Dopamine proper has reached into iOS 17 and 18 territory. The update also adds support for iOS 16.7.16, which Apple released on May 11 alongside iOS 26.5.
Why iOS 17 and 18 Support Is a Big Deal
Dopamine has always been a jailbreak for iOS 15 and 16. The GitHub repo still says so. The 2.5 beta series is where opa334 has been pushing past that ceiling using the DarkSword kernel exploit, and Beta 3 is the first build to bring iOS 17 and 18 arm64 support into the official release. That covers a wide range of devices that have been out of reach for Dopamine users until now.
The support is arm64 only for now, which means older 64-bit devices rather than the newer arm64e chips found in A12 and later. But for users on compatible hardware, iOS 17.0 through 18.7.1 is a big jump in coverage.
iOS 16.7.16 Support
Apple released iOS 16.7.16 on May 11 as a security update for older devices. opa334 had support for it in Beta 3 two days later. For users trying to stay on the latest 16.x point release while keeping their jailbreak, that’s a quick turnaround.
Known Issues
This is a beta, and there are some rough edges to be aware of. DarkSword doesn’t support 2GB RAM devices running iOS 17.0 or higher, which includes the iPad 6. A8X and A9X devices also have issues, and early iOS 16 versions in the 16.0 to 16.3.1 range may not work reliably. The jailbreak sometimes causes the Dopamine app to close unexpectedly mid-process. One other quirk: the version number shows as 2.4.99 inside the app, which is intentional to avoid triggering the in-app updater prematurely.
Where to Get It
The Dopamine.ipa is available now on the official GitHub releases page. Install it via TrollStore if you have it, or use a sideloading tool. As always with beta jailbreaks, back up your device before running it.
